Mississippi Magic Irish Dancers
Our feet fly, and Irish souls sing!
Saturday 1PM St. Andrews Stage

The Mississippi Magic Irish Dancers is a local entertainment-favorite performance team on the MS Gulf Coast, based in Ocean Springs, but with dancers from across the coast. The group performs traditional Irish jigs and reels, and also delves into the realm of non-traditional, spectacle Irish dancing, as seen on numerous professional Irish dancing shows. The music ranges from the melodious tin whistle to Irish punk. The group is a 'regular' at the Highlands & Islands Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Music Festival, The Luck of the Irish, The International Festival at Our Lady of Fatima, The Summer Fair Festival at the Coast Coliseum, Art in the Pass, and numerous other festivals, parties, and Renaissance Faires. The group is under the direction of international dance soloist, Julie Black, who has performed across the southwest United States and in England and Ireland. She recently performed at the Ulster American Folk Park, in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. Julie Black has also taught dance workshops in MS, LA, AL, FL, NV, NY and has written articles and choreographed routines for publication in dance magazines. Potential dancers of all ages are welcome to join this group, with an offer of one free lesson. We believe that Irish dancing builds character, stamina, self-confidence and offers an opportunity to travel and make new friends. Contact: Julie Black 228-327-2133 Voice or Text.

The Jackson Irish Dancers were organized in 1998 by a group of friends who had stumbled across Irish dancing several years earlier and quickly found themselves addicted. Now a membership-based organization that includes a diverse group. They enjoy all sorts of Irish dancing – the up-on-your-toes Riverdance-style solo dancing, the low-to-the-ground casual battering style of set dancing and seán nós (old-style) dancing, and the formal elegance of competition-style céilí dancing. JID offers classes and workshops as well as casual get-togethers to learn some dancing; you can also book the group to dance or teach at your festival, school, church or club; and you can catch their performance group onstage across the region.
