Tommy Chambers brought the meeting to order.
Layman Gilmore, Ronnie Quin & Walt Lonnborg
presented Celtic Stories.
Treasurer Report - Joe Brister
Checking Account $12192.42
Savings MDA $3765.40 will be moved transferred into checking.
The statements reflect $64.90 in interest was received over the
year.
He said the board approved the purchase of Quickbooks software at
the last board meeting. Two checks for dues have been received but
not yet deposited. Former officers have not been able to get
together to transfer the account over to the new officers. Ronnie
Quin said we need to get a $400 check to Strathspey & Reel and gave
a note to the Treasurer. Joe said that People's Bank was not helping
us in the transfer.
Ronnie Quin made a motion to move our accounts
to a different bank. Layman Gillmore seconded. There was discussion
about different banks. No action was taken. The President directed
the Treasurer to look into it.
There was discussion about having an ATM at the
festival.
Walt Lonnborg recommended taking the transfer document to the Pass
Rd. branch and see if they would be more cooperative.
Walt Lonnborg said that there were outstanding grant reimbursable
advertising bills that needed to be paid.
Games Chief Report
Ronnie Quin nominated Layman Gilmore for the vacant 2 year Trustee
position. Jason Tisdale seconded. There were no other nominations.
He was elected by acclamation.
Ronnie Quin nominated Kayne Chapman to the 1 yr Trustee position.
The election was tabled until Kayne could be present at a meeting.
Ronnie Quin appointed Kayne Chapman to be Beverage Director.
Tommy Chambers said he would like to appoint
Barbara McAlpin Program Director.
Tommy Chambers was authorized by the board to contact Clan Cameron
about being our Honor Clan - Red River Cameron Clan has not replied.
Tommy Chambers said that he would like for Dick Lucas (former H&I
President 2004-2005) to be Vendor Director provided he becomes a
member again.
Walt Lonnborg suggested that we recognizing
some of our former members that held office and worked hard for the
organization in the past and make them Honorary Members. Dean &
Linda Hall, Tom McCabe, Marie Ballentyne, etc.
There was discussion about voting and Walt Lonnborg advised that
voting is limited to Active members
Walt Lonnborg made a motion to extend an Honorary Membership to
Barbara McAlpin for her work with the organization as founding
member and most mature member.
Ronnie Quin said everybody is in favor of
having jousters. Tommy Chambers volunteered to negotiate with the
jousters to bring four knights and have more competition.
Ronnie said he could get two traditional bands
for what we pay Highland Reign. Tommy Chambers suggested we get
Celtic Crossroads (local).
Jason Tisdale distributed his proposed
Athletics budget.
Ronnie said he would like to get Jim Flanagan from Hattiesburg as an
entertainer.
Tommy said he would like to get input what the
members want and what they would like the organization to do.
Secretary Report - Walt Lonnborg
Walt Lonnborg read the minutes and they were
approved. He made a motion that Ronnie Quin be authorized to pay the
fee to enter the Shenanigan's St. Patrick's parade. No action was
taken.
He related that Myra Courchen said that she was honored that we had
her husband's memorial and pictures on the website.
Ronnie Quin said he was talking with Jim Gunter
with Strathspey & Reel about having a dance clinic and performance
at the Ceilidh.
There was a discussion of building a dance stage. Ronnie Quin said
he would look into either building one or getting someone to donate
it.
Layman Gilmore suggested having slow reel type dancing.
Walt Lonnborg said that Mike Dixon has volunteered to handle Pipe
Bands for us. Tommy Chambers said we need to have more Pipe Bands.
Walt Lonnborg said the Mary C. was going to have a show "Barrage"
Feb 18 & 19. The Gulfport Little Theatre cancelled their "Brigadoon"
show.
Layman Gilmore related a security problem with our mailbox.
Jayson Tisdale related that Mike McMillan was no longer running the
fairgrounds.
