History |
||
| On
National Tartan Day April 6th 2005 a group of folks, on
line, had several discussions on what would be the best
way to celebrate National Tartan Day for 2006 in their
home states of Louisiana and Mississippi. I was taking
part in that discussion when it occurred to me, that a
State Tartan would be the grandest undertaking. My
friends in Louisiana had already accomplished this task
and were very helpful in guiding me through the official
process. By July 2005 the design was tried and tested, with the support of all the Scottish and Irish organizations within the State, we forwarded the design to the Scottish Tartan Authority, Creiff, Scotland. http://www.tartansauthority.com Tartan Search: Mississippi It was placed in their large database and declared no other tartan matched or resembled the design or colors, we were approved. We were on a probational period until we were recognized by the MS State Legislature. Gulf Coast Representatives Hank Zuber, Michael Janus and James C. Simpson filled 03/06/05 and by 03/31/06 the Bill was passed unanimously http://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/documents/2006/pdf/HC/HC0077SG.pdf |
